Oni

Terms of Service

Last updated 3 October 2026. These terms are an agreement between you and Oniverse Digital Services (BN 9907178), trading as Oni. By creating an account or using Oni, you agree to them.

1. What Oni is

Oni is an online service for buying airtime, mobile data, electricity tokens, cable TV and internet subscriptions. You fund a naira (NGN) balance on Oni and use it to pay for these services. Payments into Oni are processed by Paystack, and bill purchases are delivered through licensed third-party billers.

2. Who can use Oni

  • You must be at least 18 years old and live in Nigeria.
  • You must give accurate, current information and keep it up to date.
  • You may hold only one account, and it is for your personal use.

3. Your account

Keep your login details secure and don't share them. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us immediately at support@oni.ng if you think someone else has accessed it.

4. Identity verification

To fund your balance, and to make any single payment above ₦50,000, you must verify your identity with your National Identification Number (NIN). We may ask for more information where the law requires it or to prevent fraud.

5. Your Oni balance

  • Your balance is a prepayment for services you buy on Oni. It can only be spent on Oni.
  • Oni is not a bank. Your balance is not a bank deposit, earns no interest, and is not covered by NDIC deposit insurance.
  • Balances are held in naira (NGN) only and can't be transferred to other users.
  • You can ask for any unused balance to be refunded as set out in our Refund Policy.

6. Funding your balance

You can fund your balance by card, bank transfer or USSD through Paystack. Your card details are entered on Paystack's secure checkout and are never stored by Oni. Paystack's own terms also apply to these payments.

7. Buying bills and airtime

  • The price is shown before you confirm a purchase, and that amount is deducted from your balance.
  • Check the phone, meter, smartcard or account number before you confirm. Purchases sent to a number you entered can't usually be reversed.
  • Most purchases are delivered within seconds. Some take longer because of the biller; these show as pending until the biller confirms them.
  • If a biller can't complete a purchase, the amount is refunded to your balance automatically.
  • Verified members can make a pay-for-me link for a bill and share it. Anyone with the link can pay for that bill by card, bank transfer or USSD through Paystack, without an account. The bill is delivered to the number on the link, or the payment is refunded to the person who paid if it can't be. On a chip-in link several people can each pay part: the money is held until the full amount is in, then the bill is bought, and everyone is refunded if the full amount isn't reached before the link ends. Don't use links to collect money for anything other than the bill shown.

8. Fees

We currently charge no fee for funding your balance or paying bills. When someone pays a pay-for-me link, a card payment fee that covers Paystack's charge is added to what they pay, and it's shown before they pay. If we introduce any other fee, it will be shown before you confirm the payment, and we will update these terms first.

9. Things you must not do

  • Use Oni for fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing or any other unlawful purpose.
  • Use a card, bank account or identity that isn't yours.
  • Interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorised access to Oni.
  • Resell Oni services in bulk or run automated purchases without our written permission.

10. Suspension and closing your account

We may suspend or close an account, or hold a transaction, if we suspect fraud or misuse, or if the law or a regulator requires it. Where we can, we will tell you why. You can close your account at any time from your Profile; any unused balance will be refunded under our Refund Policy unless it is under investigation.

11. Availability and liability

We work to keep Oni available and accurate, but we rely on payment and biller partners and can't guarantee uninterrupted service. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount of the transaction concerned. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Nigerian consumer protection law.

12. Your privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal data.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Oni after that means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a complaint, contact us first at support@oni.ng and we will try to resolve it. If we can't, either of us may refer the dispute to the courts of Nigeria.
